AVP, Commercial Credit

Location: Toronto (Downtown)

 

Reporting to the SVP, Commercial Credit, the incumbent is responsible for the analysis, recommendation and / or authorization of the various requests related to commercial loans recommended by the branches authorized to grant commercial financing, including certain requests for equipment financing and dealer financing. In addition, the ideal candidate participates in the monitoring and management of credit risks, in the development of credit policies and procedures, and assists business development staff in the interpretation of policies and in the preparation and editing of various types of credit recommendations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes, authorizes and/or refuses requests and loan modifications recommended by branches and/or business centres.
  • Quickly identifies risky files and recommends actions for their recovery.
  • Participates in the development, maintenance and dissemination of credit policies and guidelines, enforces them and responds to branch inquiries.
  • Performs appropriate follow-ups on branch audit reports.
  • Formulates recommendations to improve the work process.
  • Assists branches in the interpretation of credit policies and procedures and, when necessary, in the preparation of their various recommendations. Keeps abreast of the state of the economy, the evolution of various sectors of economic activity particularly affecting its territory, competition and changes in the market for commercial loans.

 

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate university degree in finance or related.
  • More than 10 years of relevant banking experience in loan development, analysis, authorization or management.
  • Good knowledge of the Bank’s credit policies.
  • Good knowledge of the Bank Act, the Civil Code and the Bankruptcy Act.
  • Excellent analytical and synthesis skills, good negotiating skills and good judgment.
  • Experience in dealer financing.
  • Experience in syndication of loans.
